When the first title of the Alan Wake series came out in 2010, it had to go against the heavyweight Red Dead Redemption. However, against all odds, the game stood firm and now has gained a significant cult following. The success of the game spawned titles like Control and Quantum Break. Now, after thirteen years, the sequel of the Alan Wake series is finally here.

Alan Wake II to be a digital-only game

As shown on the official game site, Remedy Entertainment is still pushing the game to be a digital-only title. Furthermore, they have given three reasons for their decision. Firstly, they cited the increase in digital-only consoles for this. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S both have digital variants present in the market.

The second reason was from the price point of view. Keeping the game digital-only has enabled them to keep the price low. Giving their final reason, the studio said, “We did not want to ship a disc product and have it require a download for the game — we do not think this would make for a great experience either.”
