Kaitlyn ‘Amouranth’ Siragusa is one of the most popular creators on the purple platform Twitch. Amouranth had a tremendous last year, as she finished 2021 with 203 million views and garnered 4.9 million loyal followers. However, the American streamer has been on the receiving end of online trolling ever since her decision to start streaming for a living.
The 28-year-old has had anything but an easy ride. From getting multiple bans on Twitch to ‘haters’, Amouranth has always been vocal about her experience on the platform.

In a recent interview, she gave fans a peek into her thoughts regarding Twitch and the general culture on the purple platform.
Amouranth on Twitch zeitgeist
In a recent interview with TheGamer, Amouranth expands upon what it is like for a female creator on the platform:
“Twitch is male dominated and the zeitgeist is still very much ‘male culture’,” she says “It is seen as ‘simping’ to watch female content creators. If Twitch becomes more mainstream, this may change – we can only hope. Both men and women deserve the same shot, [and to] not to have viewerbases shamed for their choice with reference to viewing preference!”

An understanding of the twitch zeitgeist is essential to what Amouranth does. Ranking within the Top 50 streamers on the purple platform, her streams run the gamut from casual chat streams to ASMR content, but she displays an acute awareness of current trends. For instance, Amouranth was one of the first to embrace the hot-tub meta; although that decision also resulted in her receiving a ban from the platform.
Moreover, recently, she got banned from Instagram after being mass-reported, as per WIN.
Although she closed 2021 with a bang, 2022 is shaping to be a troublesome year for the streamer.

On January 3, Amouranth revealed on Twitter that her Discord was recently hacked. Moreover, just two days later, she put out another tweet citing another instance of hacking:
MY JUST DANCE ACCOUNT WAS HACKED. THEY CHANGED MY NAME FROM “AMOURANTH” to “TWITCH SLUT”. This is the second of my platforms that’s been hacked this year.. and we’re only 3 days in.

Despite this, she continues to power through her hardships. In her own words:
My boundless energy comes from the compulsion to prove my haters wrong. I will never burnout because my detractors are infinitely petty with their remakes and sniping, and thus the drive to prove them wrong is a renewable source of energy.
