2023 has brought much anticipation for soccer fans. Like every year, fans had speculated an improvised and detailed videogame on European football. However, ending all the gossip, developer EA Sports has confirmed a new football video game for fans. The only plot twist in the project is the game’s brand-new name.

Since FIFA canceled the name license associated with the previous developments in the franchise, this game will no longer be named after FIFA. Instead of the old name, developer Electronic Arts decided to release it as EA FC. 

New football-based video game on the making

Since FIFA’s license cancellation, fans were worried about the status of their favorite football game. Following the super popular collaboration between FIFA and EA Games, soccer fans were tense about whether EA will drop further development under the FIFA franchise. Breaking all the speculation, EA announced their brand-new soccer video game, which hinted toward European Football Clubs. Now PlayStation officially confirmed the news on their Twitter account by posting an initial trailer of the game- “Ready to join the club? Witness a new era of soccer with #EASportsFC“.

Although FIFA decided to put an end to this long partnership, Electronic Arts Games thanked the organization for its fruitful partnership. FIFA 23 was undoubtedly one of the top-selling games and hugely popular among European football lovers. With EA FC making its debut mark in 2024, fans seemed anxious and excited both.

Are fans unhappy with the news of EA FC?

Although PlayStation’s announcement seemed desperate to bring similar excitement among fans, in reality, people seemed unsatisfied with this new venture. Fans spotted criticising how the trailer gave similar vibes to previous developments under the banner of FIFA- “I hope I’m wrong, but it feels like a different name, same company. Everything from marketing to gameplay is being sold as if they didn’t want the FIFA name. They should be begging us to come back with an amazing trailer.”

For people, it seemed truly like the end of an era where EA and FIFA continued to entertain fans with their brilliant adaption of the game- “an era comes to an end”.

It seemed that most people believed the game to remain the same except for the change in the game’s title- “It’s the new fifa but ea lost their sponsorship with fifa.”

Overall, fans were disappointed and showed less interest in EA FC 24.

It felt that the idea of a new soccer environment couldn’t stand in front of the public.
