A lot of games that were released during the crisis bloomed unexpectedly, like Among Us. While developers had to postpone the release of a larger number of games to 2021 because of the lockdown.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a Nintendo Switch exclusive, which makes the success of the game more unexpected. Furthermore, the game single-handedly boosted the sales of Nintendo Switch exponentially. It released in March 2020 and sold 5 million digital copies globally within the same month. This broke the record of any other console game in history in a single month and also placed it among the top 3 highest-grossing games in 2020.
