Animal Crossing: New Horizons celebrated its one-year anniversary on March 20, 2021. Within this time period, Nintendo’s life simulator has become the second most successful Switch game with 32 million sales. Since then, the franchise has shown no signs of slowing down, releasing regular updates and events.

On March 17th, Nintendo took to Twitter to announce a “high school prom” inspired event coming to the game. Prom is typically a Western tradition celebrated at the end of a school season or graduation. It usually features people dressing up and gathering to dance and celebrate.

The prom event in Animal Crossing will be held between April 1 and April 30. During the event, players will get to purchase fun prom items and clothing, including dresses, tiaras, colorful tuxedos, and sashes. While it would be nice to have an official ‘Prom Night’ where players have an excuse to dress up and dance, there is no news of such an affair.

Here are the items that will be available during Animal Crossing: New Horizons Prom event

The prom masks, crowns, and tiaras each have two variants. The prom sash will be made available in seven different colors including red, black, blue, yellow, green, purple, and white. Both the prom dance shoes and Bubble-skirt party dress have eight vibrant colors to pick from. They can be purchased for 1200 bells and 2500 bells, respectively.

Players who wish to stand out from the crowd can opt for the sequin and slip dresses. Although they feature a similar design, the sequin dresses are shiny and reflective whereas the slip dresses make for a more elegant look. These will be made available for 2240 bells and 2600 bells, respectively.

For players who want to showcase their inner prom king, Nintendo has included vibrant tuxedos. These will be available in red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, monotone, and brown and can be purchased for 2800 bells.

Lastly, decorative items like the prom wallpaper and prom flooring will be available for 3000 bells each. These will be useful if you want to set up your own prom-themed event with your friends.

Clothing and accessories can only be purchased from the Able Sisters’ shop, while the Wall and Flooring are available in the Promotion tab of Nook Shopping. Additionally, Nintendo will be releasing various variations of these items throughout the event, so be sure to save your bells for items you really want to purchase.
