Animal Crossing: New Horizons has arguably become the most popular and successful title for the Animal Crossing series. Furthermore, it attracted several players thanks to the release of the 2.0 update in New Horizons. Among the numerous fan-favorite features, it’s shocking that players are not big fans of villagers in ACNH.

Villagers have always been an iconic part of the Animal Crossing series. However, because of the lack of in-game dialogues and activities, most users consider villagers boring in New Horizons in comparison to past titles. Regardless, every ACNH player will have 10 residents on their island. Here are the top villagers that are a perfect fit for a food theme island.

  • Chai

Chai is a peppy villager, so she’s got one of the best personalities in the game. Furthermore, she’s from the Sanrio x Animal Crossing collaboration, which means players can invite her only through exclusive Amiibo cards.

She has a teacup balanced on her head, which makes her the perfect candidate for a food/drink-themed island, and she’s popular for her cutesy fashion sense and theme. Interestingly, Chai represents the Sanrio character Cinnamoroll and has an image of him on her shirt.

  • Ketchup

The name of a villager is only enough for him to be included in this list. Ketchup is a peppy duck villager in the Animal Crossing series. Being a food-themed villager, she’s even more unique than most villagers. Not to mention, Ketchup is a duck that closely resembles the food she’s named after.

She has a mostly red body like ketchup, yellow blush, beak, and wings help break up the color palette. Interestingly enough, her hair is green, making her look like a tomato. Indeed, Ketchup is one of the most needed villagers for your food theme island.

  • Merengue

Merengue is a normal rhinoceros villager in the Animal Crossing series. She first appeared in Animal Crossing: New Leaf and has appeared in all subsequent games. Interestingly, she is the only female rhino villager still in the series to have two horns – a red/green strawberry as well as a slightly hidden cream-colored horn.

Similar to Ketchup, Merengue is also a food theme villager. Moreover, she resembles a strawberry shortcake and comes decked out in a chef outfit, which is perfect for a food-themed island.
