With the coronavirus pandemic wave sweeping across the world, mass gathering including tournaments, is out of question. So, the Apex Legends Global Series is going online as part of EA’s Stay and Play initiative.

Instead of players turning up to a set location for the tournaments, they can plan from the comfort of their homes. Apex Legends pro teams will compete for $100,000 and ALGS points in multiple online tournaments. On top of that, the tournaments will be broadcast live to cheer up isolated fans.

“As the global coronavirus situation evolves, we want to help the world find more ways to connect in play during a time where we need to be physically apart. As hard as this situation has been, we continue to be inspired by the camraderie and support we see every day in Apex Legends,” the ALGS team said in a press release.

The PGL Bucharest Premier Event #2 was expected to start on May 30. However, the COVID-19 pandemic forced its postponement to keep players and the community safe. No new date is announced just yet, but fans can watch some high-stakes online tournaments.

OT3 will have competitive teams compete for a $100,000 prize pool. The first-place teams in Europe and North America will get $7,200, second-place teams get $4,410, and third place gets $2,790. First-place teams in other competing regions, including Korea, Japan, and South Asia, will receive $3,600. The second-place teams will get $2,220. The three competitors on each team will split the prize evenly.

The ALGS has added three more online tournaments for Apex Legends fans to watch all around the world. These online tournaments will also have a $100,000 prize pool and ALGS Points.

“Staying home doesn’t have to be boring. We’re adding three more Online Tournaments to the calendar to keep you going,” ALGS stated.

“You don’t need to be competing in the tournament to be part of the fun,” ALGS said.

The European and North American tournaments will have their Finals streamed on the official Apex Legends Global Series Twitch and YouTube channels. The Europe Finals show starts at 5:45 PM BST while the North American Finals show begins at 5:45 PM PDT.

The Apex Legends Global Series team also shared the current standings. In North America, TSM is topping the leaderboard with 1,000 ALGS Points. Team Liquid is also up near the top with 700 points despite Brenden “Casper” Marino competing in the last online tournament with the coronavirus.

Casper recently tweeted that his “experience has been mild” and he’ll be “back to nromal” in a week.

In Europe, Alliance recently came out victorious at the second online tournament. But everyone on the European Leaderboard is still “chasing” Kebabrulla, who won the first online tournament.
