Fortnite: A look into the past when everything began

The Epic Games’ brainchild battle royale Fortnite was released six years ago, in 2017. To look at the reasons for the Fortnite events not meeting many players’ expectations, we have to travel back to those ‘glorious’ days of the metaverse.

All the hype that the Fortnite events are getting is thanks to amazing events that happened in 2018. The Rocket Launch was a momentous time for the players as it’s the first time they stopped shooting at each other and held hands to witness an event. This insane experience created huge expectations from Epic Games. They had a lot to live up to after this.

Kevin the Cube

This was yet another factor that was quite popular among the players. The purple cube appeared from the sky and was seen moving around the map. Finally, players got to see the cube dissolving in the lake and thus converting the entire lake into the material that Kevin was made of.

Then he evolved into an actual POI on which players could land. The event that followed changed the entire map! No one can forget swimming across a non-gravitational space where mystical butterflies appeared. This furthermore hyped up the expectations from Fortnite.

The Ice King

This was the event that followed the Butterfly one. There were huge expectations from this new character. The beginning was amazing with the Ice King making the entire map covered in snow. But that was it. This was the first time epic ‘truly’ messed up. There were server problems as well during this event.

Marshmello

This collaboration is what brought back the hype that the game had built. The full-scale event with visual effects was loved by every player, and it brought back enthusiasm to the game.

The Epic Showdown

This was the time when the Volcano was spotted and the drum gun was introduced in the game. The fight between the Monster and the Mecha Team Leader was legendary. Then the blast at the zero point was everything that the fans expected and loved.

The Starwars collaboration

This was a very hyped project, but soon the fans were disappointed about it. Many criticized this partnership.

The Travis Scott ‘Astronomical’ event was released to overcome this. And it surely was a huge success.

The Device Event

Yet again fans got disappointed. Everything that led up to this was quite engaging, but the finale was over very soon. And the fans were left with the question–is that it?

Galactus

The hype was back on track with the arrival of Galactus. The devourer of planets was surely an amazing addition until the final battle came. Fans were not very happy with how easily Galactus was defeated.

Zero Crisis event

It had one amazing cinematic that was directed by the Russo Brothers. But the event soon got a backlash as it not only was a solo event but there was not much to do in it.

Ariana Grande Collab

This is what brought the glory back for the players. After many points of disappointment, this collaboration with the talented artist Ariana Grande created hope in the community.

Operation Sky Fire

Fortnite was back on track at this point. This event was one amazing factor that made players quite excited and happy. Following these events was the introduction of Dwayne Johnson as the submerging of the Island in the water. These were a treat to watch.

Collison

This was quite the confusing one for the fans. The gameplay was pointing and shooting again and thus disappointed many. Moreover, the actual narrative of the event later was revealed in a comic.

Fracture

This finale event had much hope associated with it. But, it was soon put to rest as fans got yet again disappointed with the ‘weird’ event. Months of build-up trickled down to a very short and unsatisfactory finale.
