TikTok faces yet another ban

The rise of TikTok as a means of entertainment was quick. It soon started competing with the top dogs in the video-sharing industry. Stars like Charli D’Amelio, Addison Rae, Khaby Lame, and others took this as a means to rise up the ladder. But, it seems that the short video-sharing platform has taken a hit in Montana.

Montana, the western state of the US, has decided to impose a ban on TikTok. Governor Greg Gianforte announced the drastic decision through his Twitter handle. The manager of MrBeast, Reed Duchscher, was seen talking about the severity of the situation. According to him, the ban was imposed to ensure the security of the citizens of Montana.

This decision will be in full effect from January 1, 2024. The decision states that if TikTok is available to download and install within the state’s limits, the platforms (TikTok and the respective app store) will face a $10,000 fine per day. Interestingly, things took another dramatic turn when TikTok sued Montana over the violation of First Amendment Rights.

If TikTok plans to pursue its operations in Montana, it will have to pay hefty fines per day, as mentioned earlier. This also inadvertently will affect figures like MrBeast, who now have established a robust base in TikTok.
