Season 5 Reloaded’s massive install size in Call of Duty Modern Warfare II is too much for a mid-season update

Trusted scooper Bob, on X (formerly Twitter), recently took to the social media platform to express his concerns over S5R. Going by his post, it looks like the mid-season update will consume an extensive amount of storage on consoles. In his post, Bob mentioned that for PS5, Season 5 Reloaded’s preload size is a whopping 60 GB! To put things in perspective, the entire Ghost of Tsushima Director’s cut is rumoured to be about 60GB.

Shortly after Bob’s post, the reputed Twitter account PlayStationGameSize tried to explain the situation. While replying to Bob on social media, the account wrote that Call of Duty Modern Warfare II’s massive update size could be due to “a lot of changed files”. In other words, players will need to download the full game again.

Furthermore, PlayStationGameSize also revealed that, after updating, players may receive a reduced game size overall. It’s yet to be seen how much space the PC version will require. As for the 60 GB, the ridiculously huge download size is apparently due to heavy optimization. It’ll be interesting to see if the update is worth it.

Meanwhile, there’s a lot of buzz going around this year’s Modern Warfare III. It will be a direct sequel to the ongoing installment. For the first time, Activision will release back-to-back MW titles in franchise history. Earlier this month, the Gamescom event had unveiled a proper look at a raw footage from the awaited COD offering.
