Focus Entertainment’s Atlas Fallen is an action-themed role-playing video game. Developed by Deck13 Interactive, it launched on the 10th of August on PlayStation 5, Windows and Xbox Series X/S. From exciting gameplay to detailed character customizations, Atlas Fallen is all that a gamer can expect from an RPG. However, what makes Atlas Fallen so interesting to the players is its action and combat techniques.

As much as players love combat, it can be very challenging. While players can hack and slash their way through some games, some require a lot more patience and skill. Let’s just say players can’t fight enemies in Bloodborne the way they can in the God of War Greek mythology games.

Preventing attacks than dodging

While combat mechanics in many action adventure-themed games require a heavy amount of dodging, the case is not the same for Atlas Fallen. In this game, dodging is relatively ineffective in combat. Therefore, players need to focus more on parrying. Players can use Sandskin’s ability to become invulnerable for a moment and then prevent any attacks from the enemies. In fact, parrying will help players to freeze small enemies.

However, it might not work for bigger opponents. Players can opt for pummeling the bigger enemies through this ability. Through upgrades, players can unlock more features to increase the effectiveness of parrying.

Carefully noticing momentum meter

Along with preventing attacks from enemies, another useful combat tip includes keeping a close focus on the momentum meter. This meter, situated at the bottom of the screen, fills up when players successfully start an attack in the game. If players don’t inflict significant damage, then the meter slowly depletes. The more momentum a player gains through attacks, the more powerful attacks become.

There are three divisions on the meter. If a player can fill the initial bar, they can start a power Shatter attack on enemies and freeze them. This meter also offers various icons hinting at Essence Stones, which can give power buffs to the players while dodging a special attack. Therefore, players should carefully monitor Momentum Meter to maintain their advantages in combat.

Paying attention to off-screen indicators

Players can always get surrounded and ambushed by surprise attacks from enemies. At times, this can be pretty frustrating. While players can fight them off, the best way to do so would be to notice the enemy positions through off-screen indicators.

If the indicators show a red sign, it means enemies are preparing to dodge an attack. By focusing on such indications, players can simply prevent any attacks from enemies.

Strategic use of Shatter attacks

While players might term shatter attacks as one of the best combat techniques of Atlas Fallen, one must not forget about how it impacts the momentum meter. Therefore, they should be used more strategically.

Fluid mobility

Combat depends vastly on the player’s mobility. For example, players can skate on any sand-based surface or cross long gaps by triple jumping. While players might think running away might help them while facing an enemy attack, they are wrong. Enemies use projectile attacks so players can be hit anywhere despite running or moving away. However, players can stand up to the enemies and get rewards for facing them with direct combat skills.

Essence Stone special attacks

In Atlas Fallen, players can significantly use Essential Stones as it requires less momentum. During any action, players can use essential stone-based attacks to take down medium enemies.

Additionally, these attacks won’t deplete the momentum meter much, unlike shatter attacks.

Focusing on enemy body parts while attacking

The game offers a chart on the screen’s top left side, which shows the enemy body parts and sensitive areas to hit for taking them down. Players in Atlas Fallen should pay attention to these details. If they hit the correct spot, they can deal significant damage. Otherwise, attacks will get wasted.

Aerial combat

Aerial combat can be super effective, as seen in games like Spider-Man and the Greek mythology God of War games. In fact, players can remain in the air as long as they are hitting significantly to the enemies. Aerial combat can be useful against bigger enemies. This is because some of these enemies can only cause significant damage to the players at the ground level.

Therefore, using aerial combat helps players in this situation to gain an advantage. Furthermore, they can just press the shoulder button to come down to the ground level whenever they want.
