Sony and Avalanche Software recently announced how haptic feedback and adaptive triggers will excellently link Hogwarts Legacy to a real-world feeling on PS5 consoles. In fact, players will not only feel the wand doing its magic but also see the color of their house flash on their DualSense controllers.

It’s needless to mention PlayStation 5’s popularity; many of us are still trying to get one. Leaving aside Sony’s struggle to meet consumer demands, the powerful next-gen PS5 paired up with the intelligent DualSense controller to offer some new experiences.

Video games will always remain closer to the virtual world, no matter how advanced the technology revolving around them becomes. However, the introduction of simulation techniques like haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and force feedback has allowed developers to deliver a surprisingly powerful close-to-reality experience over the recent years.

Hogwarts Legacy is an upcoming action role-playing video game, scheduled to release during Holiday 2022. It isn’t a PlayStation 5 exclusive and will be available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and Series S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and PC, as suggested by Avalanche Software.

Hogwarts Legacy will let you feel the wand and magic on PS5

As announced in a blog post very recently, Avalanche Software has managed to make things a lot more ‘real’ in Hogwarts Legacy for PS5 fans. Ironically, it’s a game surrounding Hogwarts, the magic school, and the study of magic. Avalanche’s new additions in the game will help players to know what holding a wand and creating magic feels like!

DualSense’s adaptive triggers have allowed Avalanche Software to integrate the physical feeling of holding a wand and casting a spell. According to the blog post, players will feel a ‘magical resistance’ while casting their favorite spells. The presence of haptic feedback will also impart a unique feeling for every spell a player casts.

“And when you deflect a spell with Protego, you’ll feel the sizzling of the magic being reflected and absorbed by the Shield Charm.” Chandler Wood (Community Manager at WB Games Avalanche) said, in the PlayStation blog post.

Although the focus was on ‘holding the wand’ and ‘casting spells’, the DualSense controller’s power isn’t limited to this. In Hogwarts Legacy, a player will be able to feel almost every action they do inside of the game, “whether it’s crushing ingredients with a mortar and pestle in Potions class, feeling the screech of a Mandrake seedling, or flying through the skies on a broom or a hippogriff.”

There’s also a little bit of personalization involved apart from casting spells, thanks to the accommodating DualSense controller. Players will be able to see the color of their house flash on their controller. Interestingly, this ‘house color’ announcement has attracted some valid remarks from the fan base.

It’s true that players don’t really look at their controllers while playing. But a little color-changing piece of magic definitely won’t hurt!

In addition to all the feedback, triggers, and magic, Hogwarts Legacy will notably feature a vast open world. If on PS5, players will be able to choose between Fidelity and Performance graphics modes. Players will also be able to experience the world of Hogwarts Legacy in 4K. PS5 users will also be able to utilize the benefit of the Tempest 3D AudioTech. Players will enjoy additional immersive sound effects when not using a headphone, thanks to the DualSense controller speaker. Hello, magical sounds!
