Baldur’s Gate 3 Creative Lead Says Xbox Series S Does Not Compromise on Gaming Experience

While Xbox represents one-half of the Console Wars for proper reasons, the Series S has remained a thorn in the throat for Microsoft. Even though the Series S can run almost all games without many issues, it has been repeatedly accused of bottlenecking. However, Baldur’s Gate 3’s creative lead Swen Vincke seems to think the Series S doesn’t hold back the gaming experience. In a recent interview with Skill-Up, Vincke said the Series S is “..perfectly fine“.
Bottlenecking allegations bog down the Xbox Series S
The Series S is the cheapest Xbox console in the market, which makes it the most affordable one as well. Still, its low-end hardware has brought multiple accusations of poor performance. The Series S receives quite a lot of flak, as many believe that it’s the reason game devs cannot explore the true potential of technology. With Microsoft making it clear to the devs that they want Series S support for Baldur’s Gate 3, Larian Studios needs to find a way to get it done.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has been the focus of the community for some time now. Larian Studios’ upcoming release is reported to have some problems on different platforms, particularly on the Series S. Now it looks like Larion needs to optimize Baldur’s Gate 3 not only for the better consoles like the Series X and the PS5, they have to make sure it runs properly on the lower-end console as well.
Swen Vincke holds a different belief
However, Swen Vincke has the view that Series S only defines certain parameters that need to be adhered to when developing a game. The Series S is a perfectly fine console that can handle high-demanding titles without breaking a sweat. He also thinks that gameplay experience doesn’t need to be sacrificed in order to make Baldur’s Gate 3 compatible with both the Xbox Series X and S.
(FYI) Swen Vincke, CEO of Larian Studios (Baldur’s Gate 3) believes Xbox Series S does NOT hold back gaming
“I think it’s an okay proposition to say we have two devices, we want compatibility across the devices”
“They just take development efforts.”

Appearing in the Sill-Up interview, Vincke was faced with discussions about Baldur’s Gate 3 being compatible with a range of consoles. The hosts were obviously impressed by the fact that the game will support a range of consoles, but wondered how modern consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series X may offer a better experience to players. Vincke cleared things up, saying he doesn’t really think the Series S holds back other consoles in terms of experience.
