However, recently Steam recorded 100,000 players engaging in the game on the day Activision released the Beta version of Modern Warfare 3. Now that EA also made this weekend free to play for players, within 24 hours steam received 82,000 active players for Battlefield 2042. With this unbelievable number of active players, Electronic Arts surely made their free-to-play weekend a successful one.

Previously Electronic Arts announced that Battlefield will not try to compete with the Call of Duty franchise.
