Bethesda recently lifted the curtains on their much-awaited title, Starfield, at the Xbox Games Showcase 2023. The reception for the reveal has been generally positive so far. This title is the latest IP from Bethesda after 25 years. Earlier the studio was more focused on Skyrim and Fallout series. With the developers now turning their heads towards a new sci-fi title based on space, it still has some elements from their earlier series.

But whether they are similar or not, only fans could tell once they have played the game. Furthermore, one of the key factors that push gamers to buy a title is its combat and action scenes. And the latest Bethesda title has loads of it.

How combat works in Bethesda’s new title

Bethesda did not hold back on revealing every detail about its upcoming sci-fi title in the 45-minute presentation they gave. They explained everything from skill trees to factions in this new title. And the combat had different elements too. There would be normal FPS-type combat with enemies, but as a staple for every space-based title, it will also have battles with spaceships.

Like Skyrim, players can experience this Bethesda title in third-person or first-person. However, the combat looks more organic in the FPS mode than in the third-person. The movement in the title is more fluid, allowing players to sprint, jump, and slide seamlessly without jitters in animations.

However, the developers have done more for the title. They have introduced a boost pack for players to maneuver in the third dimension during the fights. With gun-modding and customizable skills for each playstyle, the title has given fans the freedom to play as they like. The presentation showed varied play styles like Stealth mode, Run-and-Gun, and also combating enemies with nothing but fists.

Some Unique Combat maneuvers in Starfield

This Bethesda title also had some never-seen-before combat tactics. Players could mind-control aliens to come to fight for them on the battlefield. Also, players may unlock telekinetic powers to control their environment and enemies. The environment also plays a major role in this upcoming title. The chambers in the environment can explode to the advantage or disadvantage of the players.

Furthermore, while fighting in zero gravity, firing a bullet will give players a pushback. For those environments, special energy-based weapons are created. A magnetic-type weapon is also present for inducing heavy damage.
