One of the biggest reasons for Final Fantasy XVI exceeding fans’ expectations is its characters. Undoubtedly, the 2023 PS5 exclusive from Square Enix features some of the best voice-acting performances in a video game in recent years.

While there’s been a growing rage for protagonist Clive and many others, a character named Benedikta Harman has inevitably caught everyone’s attention lately. She’s one of the main antagonists of FF16. However, there’s more to her than what meets the eye.

Benedikta Harman explained in Final Fantasy XVI

Before starting their journey in the latest installment, players get introduced to a variety of characters in quick succession. Among them is also Benedikta, the commander of Waloed’s elite intelligencers. She’s the Dominant of the Eikon Garuda, Warden of the Wind. In the game’s story, she crosses paths with Clive on a mission to find the elusive second Eikon of Fire.

Moreover, Benedikta has a close relationship with King Barnabas Tharmr. She sits at the highest tables of the state according to the Thousand Tomes. Since the latest game is set in its own universe, the version of Garuda it depicts is not connected to any other entry. However, one can spot certain clear references when Benedikta transforms into Eikon.

And of course, she’s the Dominant of Garuda in the new entry. Franchise lovers will recognize Garuda from previous games as a wind-elemental summon. She has an important part in Final Fantasy XIV. Interestingly, the team of FF16 was involved in that project as well.

Who Plays Benedikta Harman in FF16?

Versatile actress and producer Nina Yndis is behind the voice of Final Fantasy XVI’s popular antagonist. For those who are not aware, Nina has also voiced the character of Edna in 2021’s Bravely Default II and Birna in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

Nina began her career at a very young age, doing theatre. She landed her first TV credit in the Norwegian series Spesialenheten. She’s earned a reputation for her work in numerous TV shows and films. When it comes to projects, she’s been a part of the series FBI International. Being a producer, she is a co-founder of Certain Light Films. So far, the company has released notable movies such as Nobody’s Darling, Mine, and Hestia!
