Starfield is gearing up for a September 6 release on Xbox Series X/S and PC. With less than a month left for the release of this Bethesda title, the excitement of fans is at an all-time high. Xbox has also opened the pre-load option for the fans, enabling them to play the game the moment it releases. Amidst all this craze for the title, however, Starfield is also facing comparison from the recently out Baldur’s Gate 3.

The third entry in the Baldur’s Gate series has taken the world by storm, with many fans calling it a Game of the Year contender. And this has caused Xbox fans to wonder whether the Bethesda title will replicate the success of Baldur’s Gate 3.

Debate sparks on a comparison between Starfield and Baldur’s Gate 3

On Reddit, user Jealous_Advance9765 recently started a debate among Starfield fans. They wished the Bethesda title receive the same level of love Baldur’s Gate 3 is getting.

They said, “Probably not the exact same success, as I’m reading Baldur’s Gate 3 devs knocked it out of the park. But hopefully, Starfield gets pretty close. Keeping my hopes low. Only time will tell.”

Larian Studios, Baldur’s Gate 3 devs, have put their heart and soul into making the title. With the turn-based gameplay of the game and the Dungeons & Dragons theme, the game is receiving worldwide acclaim. The game recently left Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom behind to become 2023’s highest-rated game.

Whether Starfield will receive that level of success is still up in the air. Looking at the excellent track record of its developers, however, fans are expecting the game to not be a flop. And the extensive marketing Xbox is doing for the title is further helping the cause. Now fans are coming up with their theories on how Starfield can exceed what Baldur’s Gate 3 has got.

Fans speculate how the Bethesda title can break the benchmark set by Baldur’s Gate 3

The Reddit post has become an epicenter of heated debates between the fans. They are talking about how Starfield can come out on top after the success of Baldur’s Gate 3.

And a fan believes fixing bugs from the get-go will be crucial for the Bethesda title. They said, “I believe it will be. Unfortunately, every single bug will be blown wildly out of proportion and many bad-faith people will try to poison talk around the game. Shame how some are.”

A fan believes Starfield will age well like all Bethesda titles. “Look, Starfield will have long legs. It will be played and modded for a decade. It’s not a one-and-done type game. Sure, I want the launch to be successful – but 3 years from now I anticipate this still high in the charts and one of the most played most purchased games.” However, voices to support Starfield are still going strong.

A fan notably said, “I feel like Bethesda is going to change the game with Starfield. It will be their crowning achievement. Plus, it will grab a mainstream audience like World of Warcraft, Skyrim, and Read Dead Redemption… games you see mentioned on South Park and other TV shows.”

Another fan supportively said, “It’s Bethesda. nothing they do ever releases quietly.” A fan also chimed in with support, “Starfield for me will succeed in my eyes, as long as it delivers the experience of a space adventurer, with his custom ship. And so far, it seems like it will. I will play it as much as I’m playing BG3 now.”
