The story behind The Last of Us x Mario Kart crossover

The theme, the setting, and the narrative of the Last of Us have its viewers gripping onto their seats. What if the same strategy is applied to the fan-favorite yet light-hearted Mario franchise? This is exactly what the fans got to see. An interesting crossover between the post-apocalyptic world of the Last of Us meeting the Mario Kart world.

Fans got to witness Pedro Pascal filling the shoes of Mario while Chloe Fineman as Princess Peach. Of course, she is also a complete replication of Ellie from Last of Us. Mario has to take the princess across the Mario Kart world, like how Joel takes Ellie.

According to Mikey Day, who also plays Luigi in the video, this crossover is actually a spiritual successor of the Grouch. This was an SNL episode when Oscar the Grouch was paired up with the Joker.

For making such an ambitious project, there was a lot that had to be done. A massive set had to be built, and it needed to be perfect to appeal to the audience. A lot of blue screens were used as well. After shooting the project, the editors had only three days to complete the final video! The masterpiece that the viewers got to see was made within just a couple of days, and it surely shows the capabilities of those editors.

Currently, the Last of Us is past the midway mark towards the finale, and each episode airs every Sunday. The show is currently at an interesting conjecture, so we are not spoiling it for the fans.

The Mario Bros. Movie, on the other hand, will be released on April 7. And it will feature incredible talents like Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor Joy, Charlie Day, and other popular stars.
