When it comes to Destiny 2, there is very little scope to disappoint fans. The game is an incredibly fun experience that lets you take on firefights in space, as you try to loot gear and get better rewards. However, coming up on a bug, especially one that sees opponents obliterate you might just dampen your experience of the game.

That is precisely what happened with Destiny 2. Once players discovered a crafting glitch in the game, there was nothing stopping them from exploiting it. Dealing extremely high amounts of damage with weapons that usually would not do so, this Destiny 2 glitch had fans tilted. With a new update, developers Bungie might just have solved the problem, at least part of it!

After acknowledging the existence of the glitch, Bungie finally announced their plan to work on the problem and an upcoming fix. According to their announcement on X, this fix will come in two parts, with the first part being implemented already.

Essentially, the fix is a stopgap. Bungie will disable equipping weapons that were crafted. This seems to target the root of the problem since it was crafted weapons that used the glitch. This does not mean crafting has shut down entirely. This will be crucial for the second step.

The second step is set to come soon. This update is intended to eliminate the glitch entirely. With this glitch, players can equip crafted weapons, but weapons created as part of this glitch would revert back to their default settings. As Bungie elaborated, weapons crafted that were deemed to have ‘illegal components’ will go back to their default state.

Fixing this glitch will only work if Bungie applies it quickly. The first part works in tandem with the second fix. Otherwise, not letting players equip crafted weapons will just become a nuisance for players who are not exploiting the glitch.

Why was this glitch significant?

What makes this glitch especially relevant is the ongoing Trials of Osiris event. As part of the event, players had the opportunity to take part in PvP games that have the Igneous Hammer weapon as a reward for a flawless performance. With so much at stake, given the opportunity to get an easy win with the glitch, fans were likely to make use of the crafting bug.

Essentially, what the crafting glitch allowed them to do was use perks to combine the abilities of two different weapons. This means in just a few minutes, players could craft a gun with the damage of a shotgun with the range of a rifle. Even in the hands of an amateur, long-time players could find themselves getting destroyed in lobbies.

Once Bungie got word of the glitch, they quickly put out a statement, announcing they were working on a patch. They also announced they had no intention of hitting the pause button for the Trials of Osiris event that was going on.

Lastly, for players who were using the glitch, Bungie has some news for you. Players using the exploit will not be receiving bans. As per Bungie’s policy, they will not be banning these players. Fans hope Bungie is able to roll out the second part of their plan quickly. The glitch has become quite annoying to come against, leaving players infuriated.
