What is Lottery System?

Back in Animal Crossing original, players could enjoy playing the Lottery, which is an event that happens on the last day of each month. In order to play, they had to visit the Nook’s Shop and must have five tickets of the current month, but tickets from the previous year can still be used in the same month.

Furthermore, users could also notice that Tom Nook won’t buy or sell anything on a Lottery day. If they win the lottery, they would receive some exciting items from Tom Nook. Usually, these items are considered to be hard to find, or more often, an NES game. Moreover, Nintendo has also introduced the same mechanics with slight modifications called Loot Box in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.

Although the lottery system is not a new mechanic in the Animal Crossing series, it looks like the rumors about its return to New Horizons might not carry any weight to it. A YouTuber known as Mayor Mori confronted, he searched everything close regarding this rumor but could find any firm evidence baking it up.

At last, he stated that all these rumors were based on patents that were filled last year. Therefore, according to him, rumors about the Lottery system returning to New Horizons might be false and should be taken with a pinch of salt.
