Call of Duty fans are not happy about the ballooning file sizes of the new game in the series. Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War now takes up to one-third of the storage of Playstation 5. This is quite frustrating for everyone, really. For all those who don’t know, the working storage of Playstation 5 is 666.2GB, which is not very impressive as it is. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War with all trimming takes up to 219.8GB. The trimming includes online multiplayer mode, zombies, as well as campaign.

The new installment has just arrived, bringing all the amazing new maps, weapons, and much more delicious content. Unfortunately, instead of being able to appreciate and admire all these cool new weapons and maps, fans are busy stressing over the file size and whether they can even afford to keep the game installed or not.

A clearly irate Switchondem wrote, “This game now takes 219.8GB, which has 667.2GB free console storage space to start with. The tech to compress it exists but the file size just keeps increasing.”

However, it is quite possible to uninstall some parts of the game that the player is not using but the file size is still pretty massive. Even without the campaign installed, the size of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is a little over 150GB, which is quite huge as compared to the other PlayStation 5 titles.

Other popular Playstation titles such as Returnal is 56.15GB, Demon Souls is 52GB, and Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is 33GB in size. So, that means Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is bigger than three PlayStation 5 exclusive combined. And that too without the campaign.

Activision has not commented on this matter yet. However, till this issue gets sorted, players can still save some space. To save up the internal storage, players can independently install different components such as Campaign, zombies, and multiplayer modes. So, they do not have to waste space on modes that they don’t play.
