Call of Duty experiences massive changes in the release schedule

In a tweet by CharlieIntel, they announced Activision had finally changed up the release schedule of upcoming CoD titles. The franchise has seen a new iteration every year for more than a decade. While this has helped the series become synonymous with the FPS genre, it has also led to fan disappointment with the quality of the product they were buying each Christmas.

CharlieIntel notes: “Activision will not release a new Call of Dufy game in 2023, delaying it by a year”.

Accordingly, Treyarch’s next title is slated for release in 2024. However, what caused Activision to take the drastic step? As per reporting by Kotaku, the sales of their recent title influenced the decision. This arrangement was decided, “after a recent entry in the series failed to meet expectations, leading some executives to believe that they’re introducing new versions too rapidly.”
