Most recent releases like Call of Duty Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2 are clearly a step away from past titles, especially a sub-series which is completely separate from Modern Warfare – Treyarch’s Black Ops. While it’s also part of the same franchise, there’s a very clear distinction between these two highly popular, fan-favorite gaming offerings. On one hand, there is the latest game from Infinity Ward in MWII, while the last title in the Black Ops universe was Cold War, that arrived more than two years ago. But are these two games similar in anyways or totally different in their approach? Let’s find out.

Talking about the game developed by Infinity Ward, it was originally released on October 28th, 2022. Prior to that, the makers made it available as part of an open beta phase. Call of Duty Modern Warfare II’s Campaign features a plot where players continue their journey from where 2019’s Modern Warfare concluded. Similar to the previous installments, it consists of an online Multiplayer setup. There are various modes for the fans to explore in different maps and dynamic settings. Modes like Control, Ground War, Invasion, and Bounty have become quite popular in a short span of time lately.

There’s also a fresh mode in Raids where a user must have a team of three for entering the given missions, and completing them of course. The new addition was revealed towards the end of 2022 in December, with a mid-season update called Season 1 Reloaded.

How are Modern Warfare II and Black Ops Cold War different?
Apart from their respective Campaigns and Multiplayer setups, however, they also feature two unique extensions for themselves. While Modern Warfare II has got a battle royale in Warzone 2, Black Ops Cold War consists of an attractive and engaging Zombies mode. This is, perhaps, the biggest distinction that separates the two games quite clearly.

On one hand, players have a free-to-play Warzone 2 experience that can feel amazing with endless online matches that bring lots of adventurous encounters with them. Options like Proximity Chat have made them even more enjoyable and fun. But Cold War’s Zombies mode is as good as it can be. It’s a known fact that Call of Duty fans have been in love with the living dead ever since they were introduced in the franchise years ago. Not to mention, Cold War’s Zombies mode is one of the best to ever come out in a Black Ops game.
