Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 broke the internet on October 28, 2022, after making its worldwide debut across different platforms. Fans from different parts of the world tuned in to get their hands on this futuristic title as they waited for over four years for it. However, their smiles quickly faded, with the servers crashing and not allowing them to get into their first game. This became a serious issue as thousands of them revolted on Twitter. Fans expressed their sorrows with images, clips, gifs, and a lot more, expecting a quick answer from the franchise.
Activision and Infinity Ward quickly adhered to this, promising a fix soon. And in the next few hours, they pushed out multiple updates, allowing fans to have their first game. During this chaos, the franchise was worried about the numbers as they were swirling through troubled waters right at launch. However, the numbers seemed perfect sailing as they broke multiple records in the inaugural week.

Activision announced Modern Warfare 2 years back, promising to release the title anytime soon. However, they kept delaying the title by months, introducing other games beforehand. After Modern Warfare 2’s release, Activision felt like they could get a breather as they relentlessly worked on the game. Sadly, they faced major issues after users posted continuous complaints about server crashes, games not loading, hangs, and a lot more. This became a foundation for their ‘worries’ as they were tensed about the sales.
But, it looked like their fanbase wasn’t worried at all, as the sales numbers crossed over $600 million in the first weekend. Apparently, the number was so huge when compared to Marvel movie launches, giving a tough fight to the cinematic universe. To mention volume, the game surpassed Spiderman: No Way Home, which merely made $260 million.
Modern Warfare 2 is reportedly the fastest selling Call of Duty ever.
