Call of Duty Modern Warfare II has ended up making a great fusion with nostalgia since its launch. The makers have left no stone unturned in giving hardcore fans a feeling of the old, good days. They have done that by offering numerous Operator skins, audio packs, and also weapons. They are either inspired by or directly taken from classic installments.

Continuing this tradition further, developers have now seemingly confirmed yet another, fan-favorite weapon for MWII. In case anyone missed keeping track of events, the next season for the ongoing entry was just revealed. While sharing a key art for Season 5, the makers also provided a glimpse of a mystery gun. Well, now it appears that it’s the one and only FAMAS – from the original MW2.

FAMAS is likely to come back with Season 5 of Call of Duty Modern Warfare II

The assault rifle was initially introduced in 2009’s Modern Warfare 2. It was then also featured in Treyarch’s first Black Ops game from 2010. Actual plans were to include it in 2007’s CoD 4. Sadly, it couldn’t happen during the development cycle. In MW2’s Campaign, the FAMAS can be found several times, mostly used by Ultranationalists. In Multiplayer, users were able to obtain it after unlocking Create-a-Class.

And now, this beloved assault rifle is coming back to the franchise. Call of Duty Modern Warfare II’s Season 5 will bring back the classic weapon once again. The developing team indirectly made it official while sharing a key art for next month’s update.

The key art features three new Operators who will appear in the fifth season. One of them is none other than the returning character Phillip Graves. He was the leader of Shadow Company in MWII’s single-player storyline. Now coming back to the remaining Operators, one out of the two (in the middle) can be seen with a special gun. After giving a closer look at the design, franchise lovers can easily understand its significance. It’s the one and only FAMAS. However, it will be interesting to see what name the weapon will carry this time.

Activision has already revealed that Season 5 is releasing on August 2, 2023. Modern Warfare II is now available across the globe.
