The hype for Activision’s next Call of Duty game is increasing every day and why not? There are tons of reasons to get excited about the brand new premium, which will be a direct sequel of its predecessor, MWII. However, the most attractive part of this year’s installment is the fact that it will bring Zombies into the Modern Warfare universe. And that’s not even everything. A beloved character from Zombies storyline might also come back!

Call of Duty and leaks go hand-in-hand. It’s just impossible to separate the two as the makers can’t always succeed in containing crucial intel from surfacing online. It seems to be the case considering a recently shared intel on social media. Apparently, it suggests that an iconic female character from Black Ops Zombies may eventually return with Modern Warfare III.

Maxis has been present in Treyarch’s games featuring Zombies. Originally, she was introduced as a little girl in the Aether Story with Der Riese in World at War. She is the daughter of Ludwig Maxis, who was the leader of the Group 935.

Samantha served as the primary antagonist until 2018’s Black Ops 4. And it was the first title that saw her becoming an ally for other characters to save and restore the universe. It happened during Alpha Omega and Tag der Toten.

In 2020’s Black Ops Cold War, Maxis returned as a full-grown adult and playable Operator. As expected, she was part of the Dark Aether storyline. Now, it looks the time has come for Samantha to make her Modern Warfare debut as well. At least that’s what a mysterious post on X (formerly Twitter) suggests.

As one can see in the post above, popular insider Alaix has simply dropped an image of Maxis without providing any context. Now it can’t be a random picture shared by him. Maxis might come back when the anticipated Zombies mode releases in Modern Warfare III later this year.

However, it’s a speculation as of now and one should take it with a grain of salt. Nothing can be concluded at the moment unless the makers drop an official word on Samantha’s involvement in MWIII.

Expected content for Zombies mode in Modern Warfare III

Players are getting ready to witness the big reveal of Zombies in 2023’s COD. Since its announcement in last month’s Gamescom, the mode featuring the undead has received an increasing buzz on the internet.

Based on all the details mentioned so far, Modern Warfare III’s Zombies mode is expected to have an open-world setting. There will be a large map in which players will go against hordes of the undead. In other words, it will have a PvE format instead of PvP, like Warzone battle royale or the DMZ mode.

As for the story, it will include the Dark Aether plot set in the Modern Warfare universe. Additionally, this mode will also provide a great chance for players to go against some of the biggest enemies in Call of Duty history.

It will be interesting to see how things turn out for the Zombies mode. And now that Maxis is also rumored to appear, straight from the Black Ops franchise, things are looking more than intriguing for MWIII.
