The current situation for the $68.7 billion deal between Microsoft and Activision is something which is yet to reach a proper conclusion. It’s because of the fact that there are people who are against it. But there are also those who believe that it will be for the good. Especially for a popular gaming franchise like Call of Duty.

Recently, a former Call of Duty level designer revealed his views on the proposed acquisition between the franchise’s publisher and the Xbox maker. And going by his stance, it looks like the iconic action saga won’t face any difficulty at all if the deal is sealed.

Call of Duty will likely remain unaffected even after Activision’s acquisition by Microsoft

While it remains to be seen whether the ambitious merger will be approved or not by the regulatory agencies, there are people who are in support of it already. And former CoD level designer Jack Burrows is among those who think it won’t do any harm. He is famously known for his work on 2020’s Black Ops Cold War under Treyarch. He was also involved in the original Warzone’s Season 6.

Jack Burrows recently sat down with the host of the KIWI TALKZ podcast. During the session, he was asked if the deal will impact the developers’ operations or not in case it gets approved eventually. To this, Jack had an interesting response to share.

Per Jack, the deal won’t affect the way Activision‘s developing studios work. He believes that they will likely get more freedom to do the necessary things and other stuff.

Moreover, he also mentioned that had the deal already gone through by now, Microsoft wouldn’t have changed anything in terms of the way Call of Duty developing teams generally operate. Because the franchise is already doing fine whatsoever. “Microsoft still probably would have respected what Call of Duty is doing for the most part because I mean Call of Duty prints money, right? Like, that’s the bottom line,” he said.

As of now, it’s still not confirmed whether the record-breaking merger will happen or not. Activision and Microsoft can only wait until March 2023 at the earliest.
