While the Call of Duty series is going to witness a new installment soon, there seems to be no rest for an ongoing title. Ever since it was released last November, Vanguard has mostly received a lukewarm response from the players.

Now it seems like there’s no end to the problems for Call of Duty Vanguard whatsoever. Following a recent controversy involving a plagiarized operator skin, a similar situation has occurred once again.

Latest Call of Duty Vanguard operator skin is reportedly stolen

In case anyone missed to keep a track, Vanguard had received Season 4 Reloaded last month with a major update. It also featured some new operators skins with fresh bundles. A bundle called Floof Fury was also there, containing a skin called Loyal Samoyed. The latter came under fire after it was revealed to be a plagiarized version of an already existing art by another artist.

After this controversy, Activision had removed the aforementioned skin while also issuing an apology for the same. But now it looks like the ghost of plagiarism has come back to haunt Call of Duty.

Recently, a new operator skin called Doomsayer, for the operator Shigenori, was added in Vanguard. It’s part of the Tracer Pack: Malware Ultra Skin Bundle. Now this particular skin looks identical to an already existing character from Deadrop. The latter is an upcoming game from Dr Disrespect’s developing studio Midnight Society.

Interestingly, Midnight Society’s team also includes Robert Bowling, a former developer at Infinity Ward. He’s also a former Call of Duty developer. This shocking news came to light after several accounts on Twitter began sharing the images of Vanguard skin, comparing it to Robert Dowling’s character.

Moreover, Robert also tweeted a message which was a clear indication that the latest Vanguard skin is, in fact, stolen from his own creation. “At least name it after me”, he wrote.

What’s even more awkward to note is that this incident is coming right after Activision recently apologized for a plagiarized skin in Call of Duty Vanguard. And this kind situation will only make things worse for the ongoing installment itself.

So far, there’s been no response from the side of the publisher regarding this news. It will be interesting to see if there will be a major action taken or not about the entire incident.
