While its battle royale format has received mixed reactions, the DMZ mode is something that has actually impressed lots of users. One major reason for that is they have never experienced something like this in the history of Activision’s long-running series.

Now that many players have gradually started to like it, DMZ is set to receive drastic transitions in the upcoming season for Call of Duty Warzone 2 title. Recently, a blog by the makers revealed several key changes coming to this extraction-based mode. It is going to get some refinements, alongside new additions. Simply put, fans are in for a huge surprise, to say the least!

What’s coming to DMZ with Season 2 of Call of Duty Warzone 2?

Upon its debut in 2022, the extraction-based mode revealed the concept of Factions to the players. While entering the world of the demilitarized zone, they come across three sections that are involved in their own struggle for power in the Al Mazrah region. They are called the factions that offer the players their objectives to fulfill. And if they end up succeeding in their missions, they receive lucrative rewards.

It’s been the overall structure of how DMZ mode works inside Call of Duty Warzone 2. So far, it consists of three factions, namely the Legion, White Lotus, and Black Lous. Currently, in Season 1, they are available to be unlocked depending on the mission progress of the players.

However, the upcoming Season 2 will introduce a brand new faction inside DMZ. Yes, this news was recently confirmed by an official blog from Call of Duty devs. This group will be named Crown. Acting as the fourth faction in the extraction-centered title, it will allot mission orders to the players once they unlock it. Per the description mentioned in the blog, Crown is a British Group. “It is shrouded in mystery, but they have certainly piqued the interest of Black Mous….”

An interesting and most important thing to note is that this specific faction will be available only to those who own a copy of Modern Warfare II alongside having Warzone 2 installed. Simply put, players who don’t own the base game won’t be able to access the new faction.

Activision’s Warzone 2 is now available worldwide. It will receive the Season 2 update on February 15, 2023. Interested players can enjoy the title on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
