Season 5 of the Call of Duty Warzone and Black Ops Cold War has brought some changes. In the last 15 days, Warzone received a number of important patches that saw the trailer reveal of Call of Duty; Vanguard.

Activision then dialed up its efforts to promote the game by rolling out the gameplay reveal at Gamescom 2021. With the Battle of Verdansk, there have been some serious weapon tune-ups for the SMG class. Naturally, this has brought fascinating changes to the meta with new SMGs taking the centre stage.

5 SMGS that you must unlock in Call of Duty Warzone

There are fresh faces in the SMGs categories that have begun to stand out. This list also includes some familiar faces who continue to dominate the meta despite heavy nerfs.

CX-9: It’s great to see a modern warfare weapon finding a place among the top-tier weapons of the game. In the case of CX-9 it manages to stay competitive with a great TTK(time-to-kill).

TEC-9: It is one of the slowest SMGs in the game, but it hits like a truck. Gamers who love using high damage dealing semi-automatic weapons will love this sub-machine gun. You can add various attachments to change it into burst fire or full auto depending on your play style, but full auto is recommended.

Mac-10: This weapon deals less damage, but it compensates with more mobility and an insane fire rate. It remains among the top-rated SMG as the best secondary for any sniper rifle.

MP5(Modern warfare): This weapon’s damage output got nerfed, but it still did not toss it out of the meta. You will only have to shoot two extra bullets to secure a kill, which is not that big of a deal. It is great for pushing enemies, offers decent control with a slightly toned TTK.

OTS 9: The king of all SMGs in season 5 of Call of Duty Warzone. This weapon can outdo every SMG in the game without a doubt. It offers the best TTK with decent mobility and control. Run and gun strategy might not work with this weapon, but it is still capable of taking down enemies in close range.
