2022 has been a year high on drama, especially for the European franchise G2. They had a rollercoaster ride throughout the year. From being top contenders in the Valorant front to establishing their dominance as a franchise in Esports, G2 led many headlines.

Among them, the most prominent one was regarding Carlos “Ocelote” Rodriguez. He is the founder of the G2 franchise and until recently was its CEO. In the latter half of 2022, Carlos resigned from his position due to the tensions created after he came out supporting Andrew Tate.

Carlos Rodriguez supports Andrew Tate

Andrew Tate came into the internet’s crosshair after a series of controversial gender-related remarks he made. Many people turned against the millionaire for his statements and called him out for it. As the online community turned against Tate, there were many who expressed support for him. Among them was G2‘s former CEO Carlos ‘Ocelote’ Rodriguez.

The victim of his support was his organization. Especially regarding Riot’s popular FPS game Valorant. G2, which was considered one of the top teams in the EMEA circuit got a rather massive backlash. The franchise was expected to make it into the RIOT partnership program but surprisingly it did not. Most speculations point towards Ocelote’s association with Tate.

Immediately after, Ocelote resigned from the post of CEO. Rodriguez then came forward to talk about his future with G2. The chances of him returning as the CEO of the franchise are bleak. “Don’t be sad it’s over, be happy that it happened” stated Rodriguez about his tenure as the CEO of G2. Moreover, he also took this opportunity to extend his support to Tate.

G2’s former CEO is still expressing his support for Andrew Tate. He sais that Tate is one of the best personalities he met in his lifetime. And says that Tate is a good man and he deserves all the good things that are going on for him.

G2 Valorant’s future

The franchise is expecting a comeback to the men’s Valorant front. Though they did not get into the partnership program, G2 is not out of the race yet. They have formed a new team under the leadership of former Sentinels IGL (In-game leader) ShahZam. G2 will also be seen participating in the NA circuit instead of EMEA.

Moreover, G2 Gozen, the Game Changers squad for the Franchise is the first and current Game changers champion.
