These are pretty good games indeed, and the fact that Capcom is somehow keeping its new releases so perfect is a surprise to many. We all know how this company faltered years ago when it lost direction for all of its franchises.

Now that Capcom is back on track, they are constantly releasing new games. They have even announced a brand-new game engine for their future projects, one of which is all set to launch by March 2024. What could that title be?

There’s a lot to release in the coming months. From various PlayStation 5 exclusive titles to Nintendo Switch first-party games, from November to March, there would hardly be any shortage of exciting new titles to enjoy. From Super Mario RPG to Prince of Persia to Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth to Tekken 8. It looks like even Capcom is joining this growing list of publishers to release a new title in the next few months.

This was revealed via Capcom’s latest earnings reports, which gave a detailed description of the publisher’s earnings and sales of their previous games. The only thing that caught the eye of several people was this new mystery release that is set for early 2024.

In the FAQ featured in their financial report, it was mentioned, “We plan to introduce major new products in the second half of the year. In addition, from the beginning of this fiscal year, we have planned to promote sales mainly in the second half of the fiscal year, and we aim to achieve this by increasing the number of sales with a focus on repeat titles.”

Although there’s no hint at what this game could be, there’s a possibility that this title is not from the Resident Evil franchise. They usually announce their major titles 7-8 months ahead of launch. Who knows though, companies often change their strategies; maybe Capcom is planning something huge?

The new engine is creating a lot of buzz

While Capcom is going around teasing their upcoming unannounced titles, there’s a major buzz surrounding their new game engine called REX, or RE Next. This new engine is set to launch shortly and would be an upgrade to Capcom’s current RE Engine. RE has proven to be a great success with its advanced graphical features and very good performance, even on low-powered devices such as the Nintendo Switch.

Here’s hoping this new engine keeps this feature, as it would not be half bad to see RE Next games on whatever Nintendo calls its next hardware.
