Nintendo had announced a new Super Mario film eight months back. Their director, Shigeru Miyamoto, was the one to reveal this information to different parts of the world. Miyamoto also mentioned working with the Hollywood Film studio, Illumination, which casts some of the biggest celebrities in the industry like Chris Pratt.

Initially, the studio was quite skeptical about giving Mario’s role to Chris. It is because he had an American origin while the character belonged to Italy. As a result, there would be a significant difference in the accent, ultimately affecting the originality of Mario. But now, post a few recording sessions, the producers reported being happy as they chose him for the role.

On June 20, 2022, DiscussingFilm’s Twitter account posted an update about the Mario film. The information mentioned Illumination studio’s director, Chris Meledandri, talking about Chris Pratt.

He said, “Chris was cast because we felt he could give a great performance as Mario. And now that we’ve done about 15 recording sessions, and the movie is three-quarters done, I sit here and say that I love his performance as Mario.”

But, after the record sessions, he had a change in his opinion as he felt Pratt had done a fantastic job.

Nintendo had previously announced Super Mario’s release to be in December 2021. But later, they put out dedicated posts, shifting its date to late 2023.
