The Borderlands live-action movie has finally received an official release date and fans can’t keep calm. While such a movie has been in the talks for ages and now something tangible is finally there for the community.

The official Borderlands page and other profiles on different social media platforms have revealed the release date to be in early August this year. The cast looks to be the obvious highlight of the movie. The A-list includes some of the biggest names in Hollywood at the moment, including Cate Blanchett, Jack Black, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Kevin Hart.

Borderlands live-action gets a date and a director

Telltale Games’ Borderlands franchise has been a hit among fans since its first release in 2009. The developers combined elements and styles from a lot of different genres, which gave Borderlands its signature gameplay style. Borderlands games are a series of action role-playing games that also have elements from first-person looter shooter games. Travel to a distant planet, Pandora, to find The Vault and save the universe: the premise of the Borderlands titles made the gameplay all the more impressive.

Set in a dystopian land, Borderlands has been able to create an environment for players that’s almost surreal. Apart from just being a great title, Borderlands also managed to take a deep dive into human society and psyche in ways that can be chilling at times. Rumors about a live-action adaptation have been in the air for quite some time, without confirmation.

Many would consider it to be essentially a sci-fi horror story. Finally, the fans are delighted as Hostel-director Eli Roth has been named as the main brain behind the project. The movie is scheduled for release on August 9th, 2024.
