As we enter the countdown to Bethesda’s Sci-Fi giant launch, fans have high expectations from the game. While the Xbox exclusive is set to drive the console war, Starfield developer sparks an interesting debate on social media.

The ongoing year 2023 has somehow seen a shift in the approach to console rivalry. Giants like Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft have increased their focus on exclusives for a while. This has received a mixed sort of reaction from the community. The debate on the accuracy of the approach is never-ending. Well, it seems like the Starfield designer just fueled the debate by calling the console rivalry “dumb.”

Starfield creator wants the community to “Enjoy it all.”

Emil Pagliarulo, Director of Bethesda Design Studio shared an interesting opinion on X. The latter made some allegedly bold statements with an interesting subtext of no context. He has called out the ongoing heat on the console wars as pointless. Moreover, the man gave special advice to the community. The creator wrote, “Console wars are dumb. No other context. They’re just dumb. Play what you want. Enjoy it all.” 

Coming from a person who is one of the brains behind the much-awaited exclusives of 2023, fans were left curious. There have always been two sides to the ever-intensifying console rivalry. Some gamers believe the console race provides a balance of competition. It gives a sense of cushion to smaller developers when approached by console giants providing a number of quality options for the community. Whereas the others believe the transition is happening too fast making the competition too reliant on title acquisition. Microsoft’s race to acquire Call of Duty maker Activision is just another example of the newly adapted approach to asserting dominance.
