Valve brings revamped premier competitive mode for Counter-Strike 2

The current ranking system for CS:GO continues to be a big issue for fans. Very little is known about exactly how it works. What fans do know is that it is based on the ELO system chess uses, with features picked up specifically from CS:GO’s gameplay mechanics such as headshot percentage. This determines who you play against in matchmaking. However, in its current state, matchmaking is a nightmare for most players, and in desperate need of a fix.

That is where Valve brings in the premier ranked mode for the much-awaited sequel. A data miner, known to be a verifiable source for CS2 leaks, reported details about a new ranking system in the game. While the method of calculating the rank might be difficult to understand, what players know is that the change will define how competitive matchmaking may work in the new game. The premier mode might function similar to the one featured in Valorant. Riot created a competitive mode tailored specifically towards players who take the competitive aspect seriously.

If the mode is similar to the one Valorant has, it opens a lot of different avenues for Counter-Strike. Players trying to make it into the pro scene can do so right here, without the need to go to third-party playlists on Faceit or ESEA. Additionally, it also gives a much-needed change to the competitive matchmaking system.
