Crazy Rumour Suggests Popular Netflix Title ‘Squid Game’ Might Be Getting its own Video Game

Popular Netflix exclusive Squid Game has taken the world by storm. Racking up billions of views in a mere few weeks, It is the number one show on Netflix. The game has reached such heights of popularity that it seems that the video game industry might actually be taking notes. While there has been no official confirmation, it appears that a Squid Games-type game might be in the works.

There have been leaks suggesting that either a Squid Games-based or an altogether standalone Squid Game title might be in the early stages of development. Tom Henderson,  an insider in the gaming industry, in a Tweet suggested that a project like Squid Games is in its early stages. He noted that he is not sure which developer and studio took up the project. Henderson also added that this project would stand as an evolution for Battle Royale games. He further said that “The future of [battle royale] is coming.”

A lot of players and fans were quick to point out that there is already an existing Squid Games-style game. Fall Guys is a title released back in February 2020. It revolves around the same concept of players competing against each other to finish time-bound obstacle courses to proceed to the next stage.

Squid Games is a series where different players compete against each other to win large amounts of money for those unaware of the show. However, it has a catch, players who fail the game get killed. This is quite contrasting to the colorful happy-go-lucky vibe Fall Guys has. The show also focuses on how the wealthy have exploited the poor. A game based on this could indeed have some interesting concepts.
