Fans all over the world are waiting for Counter Strike 2. The devs at Valve have reportedly been working on the game for around a decade. Back in March, the devs confirmed a release window for the game, targeting Summer 2023. Although the time frame was mentioned, Valve didn’t reveal the date.

Earlier in the year, a limited beta testing phase for Counter Strike 2 took place. For the test server Valve selected players based on various factors such as playtime on Valve official servers, trust factor, and Steam account standing. Since then no further details about the release date were given out. Until now!

Counter-Strike’s official Twitter account posted a cryptic tweet that asked, “What are you doing next Wednesday?” This made the entire community lose their minds. Fans got ecstatic and eagerly circled their calendars, anticipating the release date. The tweet hints at a Wednesday, which falls on September 27th, 2023. This news has left players counting down the seconds until the game’s release.

With promises made for the game to release in summer 2023, Valve has deviated from its original plan as summer ends on the 23rd of September. With the hinted September 27th release date, Valve may be using these extra days for last-minute polishing and refinement of the game, ensuring it meets the expectations of players. Considering all this, it is advised that players take caution in taking Valve’s statements too seriously. There is a chance that Valve might keep its promise and release the game earlier than the tweet implies.

In Counter-Strike 2, players will have the advantage of seamlessly transitioning their entire CS:GO inventory into the new game. Counter-Strike 2 uses the Source 2 engine which substantially enhances graphics and visual effects. These items will undergo enhancements through Source 2 lighting and materials, resulting in a visually superior experience. Furthermore, Counter Strike 2’s map selection has been meticulously crafted using Source 2 tools. Classic Counter Strike maps like Dust 2 have received updates to lighting and character appearances while preserving their fundamental layouts.

Additionally, the changes to smoke grenades in Counter Strike 2, which now react to bullets, explosions, and light give it a more realistic feel. While players expect most of the changes to be graphical, there are going to be some mechanical shifts in the game. Players can also expect to see new gun spray patterns and increased movement speed.
