Lara Croft’s Next Tomb Raider Adventure Is Safe, Reveals Developer After Embracer Group Announces Massive Plans for ‘Restructuring’

The Tomb Raider franchise has been going through a lot of ups and downs since the last one year. While it was believed to be in a good state after Embracer Group’s acquisition of the iconic IP featuring Lara Croft, things haven’t turned out as expected. Yes, there’s a new game in development already but a recent announcement almost ended up bringing the clouds of uncertainty.

Embracer Group just recently revealed a long, open letter regarding its upcoming plans to handle all the work. And it looks like many gaming projects might be scrapped. Fortunately, the next Tomb Raider game won’t feel the wrath of this transition period. This news has been confirmed by its developer. Interestingly, this valuable update was unveiled just hours later after the huge announcement from Embracer.

Crystal Dynamics gives a positive update on the future of new Tomb Raider AAA video game

The studio recently took to Twitter in order to give the fans a proper answer on Lara Croft and her new journey in the form of a fresh project which is being made by Crystal Dynamics in collaboration with Amazon. “We want to reassure fans that there will be no impact to our continuing efforts with our partners at The Initiative on Perfect Dark, or our next Tomb Raider title”, read the tweet.

Crystal had decided to post this tweet after the parent company came out with an open letter. It addressed the various future Embracer will try to execute in order to become a “leaner, stronger and a more focused, self-sufficient company.”

The restructuring process from Embracer will include many layoffs in the coming months. Moreover, multiple in-development games will also get canceled moving forward as a result of several studios shutting down. The letter also revealed that Matthew Karch is now the interim Chief Operating Officer. On the other hand, Phil Rogers has been appointed interim Chief Strategy Officer.

The restructuring program, divided into various phases, will last until March 2024. It will mainly focus on “cost savings, capital allocation, efficiency and consolidation.”

All things considered, Crystal Dynamics made a good decision to give a clarity to the fans of the Tomb Raider series. Otherwise, they would have been left wondering about an uncertain future. Fortunately, that won’t be the case now. Everything seems to be going nicely when it comes to Lara Croft’s next adventure.
