Cyber Punk 2077 was one of the most anticipated releases of 2020 in the gaming industry. Featuring Hollywood star Keanu Reeves as one of the characters, Cyber Punk was expected to be one of the mind-blowing games of the century. However, in reality, the game turned out to be sub-par for many gamers. Looking back at the successful promotion, Cyber Punk 2077 turned out pretty disappointing for the fans.

CD Projekt RED, the developers, was upset by the reception that the game got. Following the history of its comparison with one of the most popular games of the era, Grand Theft Auto V, Cyber Punk 2077- the real-world story was not able to please the gamers.

This game was initially released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2020. Amidst the COVID crisis, CD Projekt RED confirmed releasing almost an unfinished game for the players. Players using PlayStation 4 and Xbox were specifically facing several issues while playing the game. Hence, Cyber Punk 2077: The real-world story became a hot topic for media headlines stating the game’s failure to keep up with the fan’s expectations.

Three years after the disaster of Cuber Punk 2077- The real world story, CD Projekt RED is all set to make amends with the fans with their new development in the Cyber Punk 2077 franchise. Michal Platkow-Gilewski, Public Relations and Communications head of the CD Projekt RED was interviewed at the Summer Game Fest 2023, where he spoke about his excitement with Phantom Liberty. He said that Cyber Punk 2077 was overhyped. However, in their recent changes, they have tried to not only bring an extended part of Cyber Punk 2077: The real world story but make improvements in the gameplay.

Gilewski also stated that the developers wish to maintain a positive relationship with the gamers by delivering quality games. That’s why CD Projekt has put a lot of hard work into Phantom Liberty’s development. Hopefully, this new game in the Cyber Punk 2077 franchise will justify the hype it received from both media and the public.
