That’s why most developers offer some irresistible deals to creators so that their products can be promoted by them. However, this strategy doesn’t work all the time, just like in Disguised Toast’s scenario.

He shared that he has dropped a large sponsor just because he didn’t want to be associated with their game. “I am down bad on money. I recently turned down a 70k sponsor for a game. It’s a game that a lot of people talk about.” said Toast. He then interacted with his fans to find their thoughts on which game it could be. While they were giving their guesses, one such hunch made him exclaim while chuckling, “God, um, any other games?”

Every streamer has the right to decline an offer. Especially if they think the game could be damaging to their reputation and public image, as it is one of the most important aspects of online creators’ professional careers. 

In the video, Toast made it clear that his declining the offer is not a commentary on anything. He doesn’t want his fans to put him on some kind of pedestal or anything. He made it clear that even though he doesn’t care about “public opinion”, he doesn’t want to disclose their identity, he just shared because he likes to share with his community. 

But fans weren’t satisfied with that, as many of them had some wild theories. But the most common belief was that Toast declined the offer because it came from Hogwarts Legacy. The comment section of the clip was brimming with people sharing this same theory, that Toast declined the promotion because it’s a controversial game. 

Why is Hogwarts considered Controversial?

The game based on the worldwide phenomenon, Harry Potter, is getting criticized simply because of the Author’s comments on s*xuality. People are associating the author’s viewpoints with the game, making it an icon of toxic gender discrimination.

However, the game is very time forward with its inclusivity. But that is not enough for the small group of critics who have a biased view of the game. Their toxic behavior has even made some of the steamers break down live on their stream.
