Dangerous Fire Incident at Nintendo’s Headquarters Dampens an Ambitious New Game’s Timeline

Nintendo has come out with some of the most memorable IPs since the time the gaming giant began making iconic titles several decades ago. However, there are some old games that have been slightly eroded from fans’ memories. The developer and publisher is trying to revive them once again.
One such gaming series is Pikmin, which saw its last entry arriving two years ago. Nintendo was said to be working on a fourth installment but sadly, the company has now lost an unannounced in-development project. The unfortunate situation occurred recently after a fire accident damaged the yet-to-be-launched game’s master copy.

Pikmin 4 destroyed in Nintendo’s Kyoto development center
Many gaming enthusiasts have grown up playing the Pikmin entries over the last decade. The first offering was launched for the GameCube, followed by its successors on Wii and Wii U.
There were speculations of a new game in this series from the Japanese giant, but it wasn’t confirmed in any way. In an unfortunate incident, Nintendo recently suffered through a fire in its development center located in Kyoto. Going by the reports, it was likely caused by a charging device. Thankfully, no person was harmed by the fire. However, it did cause damage to certain valuable items.

Among the destroyed items was also a work-in-progress video game. Sadly, it was none other than Pikmin 4 by Nintendo. The fire completely damaged the next major installment’s master copy.

Now, Nintendo will need to restart the development once again since the master copy doesn’t exist anymore. It’s sad news for the fans who were curious to know something about Pikmin 4.
