FromSoftware is one of the most legendary developers out there! They single-handedly introduced a brand-new genre to the gaming crowd. Before Elden Ring FromSoftware launched Dark Souls 3, the supposed last entry in their Dark Souls series of games, they announced that Elden Ring was the spiritual successor to the Dark Souls series, a logical next step to it, and fans were not happy.

They complained a little and decided to play Elden Ring, and then simply forgot what was said about Dark Souls 3. But one modder did not forget, and they decided to build their own next installment, by way of a massive new mod!

A moderator has created a massive new campaign as a Dark Souls 3 mod.

Dark Souls 3 has a total of 19 bosses; this number includes the optional bosses too. Then comes the DLC, which adds six new challengers to the game. If one is a completionist and wants to play Dark Souls 3 till the very end, they will realize it is much harder than they would have imagined. In some ways, it’s even harder than the Elden Ring.

But some complete these games, and then they complete all those New Game Plus modes. These kinds of gamers then ask the developer for more, but the developer cannot stay on one game forever. That’s when the moderators come in. In the case of Dark Souls 3, too, a generous moderator has worked tirelessly to develop a brand-new campaign for the fans of the original Dark Souls 3.

Elden Ring is still a deserving successor.

While it’s not a very happy thought to imagine one game losing its relevance due to the other game, FromSoftware did this. Representative Director Hidetaka Miyazaki himself once said, “I think that Elden Ring is a more natural evolution of Dark Souls.”

When does a thing ever go back after its evolution? But it’s not a bad thing either; Elden Ring in itself is a mind-blowing game. Miyazaki and his team took their time crafting this work of art. Taking just the right inspiration from the right games, they ended up winning the GOTY in 2022.

So, it’s not a bad thing, but fans hope the developer decides to go back to the Dark Souls series sometime in the future.
