The Game Awards has to be the biggest gaming award show in the world. Developers, producers, and fans have always waited for their moments to be cherished at the Game Awards. In past years, it was December when the biggest gaming extravaganza happened.

This year, too, doesn’t seem to be an exception. The producer and host of this highly anticipated award show have announced the dates. So, what are you waiting for? Let’s find out.

The Game Awards Date Revealed

Geoff Keighley, the Producer and Host of The Game Awards, has recently announced that on December 7, Thursday, this highly anticipated event will be held. It will take place in person at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.  Although more information regarding tickets and all will be revealed later, If you are planning to watch this show at your own comfort, then you don’t have to worry as this event will be livestreamed on YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, and where not.

For the past 10 years, this award has always been hosted in the month of December to get a flashback of the titles in the current year and also take a look at the upcoming titles in the coming year. As this year marks the 10th anniversary, a special live concert was held in June to celebrate the milestone.

The Game Awards honors the best games in a variety of categories. Not only that, we get a lot of sneak peaks, news, and trailers about upcoming games, and this awards show also premieres new unannounced projects. As far as nominees are concerned, they will be announced a bit later, close to the awards themselves, as more qualified and deserving titles are yet to be released.

Last year, it was Elden Ring that became the Best Game of 2022. But the game that took all the spotlight was God of War: Ragnarok, which won six awards out of eleven nominations. Not only that, the 2022 edition of this award introduced a new category, “Best Adaptation.” Last year, Death Stranding 2 and Hades 2 were also announced. Because of these major excitements, last year’s edition got 103 million livestreams.

As of now, Baldur’s Gate 2 and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom have the upper hand as the prime contenders for The Best Game of 2023. But they are not the only ones, as Starfield, Spider-Man 2, Super Mario Bros. Wonders, and other major contenders are also knocking on the door. Street Fighter 6 and Final Fantasy 16 will also likely get a place on the nomination list.
