Recently, the Callisto Protocol was launched on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles. It has received mixed reviews so far, but the majority of them are praising it and calling it a flaweless gem. The creator of the famous survival horror series Dead Space is also the one who worked on this game.

Given the fact that both these games have the same creator and the fact that many are calling it a spiritual successor to the Dead Space series, it is only logical that people would want to know about all the similarities that they have. And everything that’s different among them.

The similarities one can find between Dead Space and The Callisto Protocol

When the first trailer for The Callisto Protocol hit the internet, people saw a game that was trying to look like Dead Space. The characters have their health bar on their backs, the game was set on a distant planet. It was a sci-fi horror game and everything was just too similar to Dead Space.

Now that the game itself has been released, it can be concluded that it is indeed similar to Dead Space. The way the weapons display ammo, the way one has to shoot the tentacles to kill the creatures. Even how this game tries to scare players is a reminder of Dead Space’s heritage in The Callisto Protocol.

The weapons also have an unlockable secondary fire mode. But then again, many games have that.

Differences between the two horror games

The biggest difference between Dead Space and The Callisto protocol is that The Callisto protocol is set on an abandoned space prison, while the latter is based on an abandoned planet mining ship.

The reason for monsters in Dead Space is more fantastical while The Callisto protocol tries to give some scientific explanation for the creatures.

Other than that, The Callisto Protocol has made the ways a player character can die in it a big selling point. So much so that even their Season Pass has a bunch of death animations.

In conclusion, fans agree that these games have more in similar to each other than differences, and in times like these, it gets hard to make a decision when the two things you are comparing are so similar and equally good. So if you are a Survival Horror fan, it can be a tough time choosing between them.

Survival Horror fans are also getting a new horror game soon. And coincidentally that game is the remake of the original Dead Space that is on its way to Next-gen consoles and PC.
