PlayStation 2 was one of the most successful consoles of its time as it helped Sony to churn massive revenue. The next-gen console surpassed the 500,000 mark at launch, allowing the franchise to make handsome profits from it. Fans were also happy for its release as they were finally getting a new console after six long years.

Sony had worked tremendously hard for PlayStation 2 by adding a massive number of features compared to the PS1. The console was 35x stronger than its prequel, giving players the ideal gaming experience. When PlayStation 2 dropped, fans quickly crowned the company as evolutionary as Sony had given their fans a world-class experience right from its unboxing. As a result, the console worked out tremendously well, conditioning the Japanese giant to continue its production despite launching two new consoles.

UberFacts drops a massive PlayStation 2 production secret, also featuring the PS4

On August 26, 2022, the popular facts page, UberFacts, uploaded a massive PlayStation 2 secret. They claimed that Sony produced the PlayStation 2 until the final month before the PlayStation 4 launched. To give you a little insight, Sony announced PlayStation 4 in February 2013, thirteen years after the PS2. So, it looked like the entire PlayStation community could not let go of Sony’s masterpiece.

First, it had a massive library of games for players to choose from and a better controller when compared to its opponent. Apart from this, it weighed lighter, allowing users to carry it around with ease. And lastly, it provided dual force feedback and optical tracking, making it stand out in the console markets.

With such top-end features from Sony in the 2000s, fans absolutely adored its release and cherished it until they bought the next one. After all, they helped Sony reach a massive sales number, buying over 158 million units as of July 2022.
