The gaming community has grown over time. Many people are now interested in video games and prefer buying consoles to meet their needs. So when purchasing a home console, fans have two options to get the best gaming experience: PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X/S. Now, there might be many factors that would affect the choice.

Choosing between PlayStation and Xbox depends on many factors. Although both have the same price tag of $500, one factor that would depend is what your favorite game is. Because both consoles have their line of exclusives.

Aside from exclusive video games, fans might also think about power consumption. After all, these devices also run on electricity and no one would prefer to receive a huge electricity bill.

Xbox Series X/S consumes considerable more power than PlayStation 5

If electricity or power consumption is a huge deal for you and you prefer to keep it minimal, then PlayStation 5 is the answer. Because reports suggest that the Xbox Series X can consume 15 times more than the latest Sony home console. Undoubtedly, 15 times is not something to ignore as they can hugely affect a lot of things.

Xbox Series X consumes around 11 to 13 Watts of power for a fast boot. This booting mode is a favorite among many as it allows the console to turn on quickly and players to enter their games. But the trade for this fast booting is the speed for power. Even the Series S’s fast boot can easily consume around 10 Watts.

However, Microsoft also has a mode for players worried about the enormous power consumption of fast boot. The Xbox Series X/S’s energy-saving boot would only require around 0.5 Watts. However, PlayStation 5 has the upper hand here as it requires around 0.5 Watts for its standard boot. So, Microsoft has made power-saving mode the default for their latest batches of Xbox consoles. But those who bought earlier can manually change the mode.

Is Sony PS5 the best console right now?

The answer to the question about the best console depends on each person. But looking at most aspects, PlayStation 5 might take the win. It offers many unique and exciting video games with high performance and quality. Further, it also consumes less power, as revealed above, which is a huge bonus.
