Amouranth topped Pokimane in viewership on Twitch, yet faced wrath from the platform on a number of occasions

Imane has dominated the Twitch landscape ever since she rose to unmatched stardom. However, once Kaitlyn stepped in, there was a serious threat to her throne. Amouranth even snatched it from Pokimane, as she was the most watched female Twitch streamer of 2021. A year ago, in 2020, this title was with the Valorant queen, but the ASMR artist succeeded in proving her growing presence.

Even when it comes to net worth, Amouranth beats Pokimane easily. In 2022, Imane is currently having a net worth between $2-3 million, according to The Loadout. On the other hand, Kaitlyn has amassed between $20-25 million in a short span of her career, according to Givemesport.

Yet, Amouranth has been at the receiving end of several bans compared to Pokimane. Twitch has benefited a lot from Kaitlyn’s Hot Tub streams, no doubt, but somehow she still gets a not-so-nice treatment.

Has Twitch been biased towards Pokimane?

The biggest topic of debate among many people is the existence of Hot Tub streams. Some don’t like them while others don’t have a problem at all. Kaitlyn, being a creator of such streams, has been actively in support of such content. But due to that, she has also received suspension and also endless bans.

Last year, the platform suspended ads on her channel without giving a reason. This led to her being unable to receive money generated from the ads on her Hot Tub streams. Following this decision from Twitch, Amouranth revealed that she was losing nearly $30-40,000 a month, translating to a loss of $500,000 in a year.

While the reasons for this suspension were unknown, there were speculations that Twitch did it due to the ASMR artist’s involvement in ‘hot tub meta‘ content. Yes, the suspension was lifted later, but the real damage was already done as per the streamer herself. On the other hand, Pokimane has been banned as well, but less than Kaitlyn.

Plus, she has managed to get relieved on many occasions. Maybe it’s because she’s the only remaining streamer who has a huge following and attracts views on the platform. The ASMR artist also does that, but then it comes down to the overall functioning of the platform and how it treats different kinds of content. It will be interesting to see what transpires eventually on this issue in the near future.
