Despite Paltry Numbers, Sony Sets Staggering PlayStation 5 Target For March 2023

Sony is undoubtedly one of the most popular gaming franchises in the world. After all, it is a one-stop destination for gamers as it sells some top products and video games. Their recent development, the mighty PlayStation 5, has been ruling over console markets, allowing them to churn a massive revenue from it.

Sony released PlayStation 5 on November 12, 2020, taking fans on a new adventure. The next-gen console dropped as a successor to its previous model, the PS4, which came out in 2013. PlayStation 5 was a grand success, as the consoles sold out in minutes after its release.
In fact, the company reported a chip shortage for months, disallowing fans to purchase the product. But now, even after having a limited supply, the franchise has announced to cross a massive console milestone by March 2023.
Sony plans to cross a huge hardware milestone despite the console shortage
A few days back, Sony hosted a meeting to talk about the company’s plans concerning the PlayStation 5. Deputy president Hiroki Totoki spoke about the gameplay time, as he “mentioned a 15% year-on-year decline in the past three months up to June 30, 2022.” Totoki also mentioned June being the strongest month in terms of sales, as the company reported a 3% rise compared to May.

“We believe the main reason for this is that the growth of the overall game market has recently decelerated as opportunities have increased for users to get out of home as COVID-19 infections have subsided in key markets,” Hiroki explained to their fortune investors.
