Sony released PlayStation 5 on November 12, 2020, taking fans on a new adventure. The next-gen console dropped as a successor to its previous model, the PS4, which came out in 2013. PlayStation 5 was a grand success, as the consoles sold out in minutes after its release.

In fact, the company reported a chip shortage for months, disallowing fans to purchase the product. But now, even after having a limited supply, the franchise has announced to cross a massive console milestone by March 2023.

Sony plans to cross a huge hardware milestone despite the console shortage

A few days back, Sony hosted a meeting to talk about the company’s plans concerning the PlayStation 5. Deputy president Hiroki Totoki spoke about the gameplay time, as he “mentioned a 15% year-on-year decline in the past three months up to June 30, 2022.” Totoki also mentioned June being the strongest month in terms of sales, as the company reported a 3% rise compared to May.
