Valorant agent Deadlock inspired by League of Legends’ character Blitzcrank

Deadlock is making waves in the Valorant community for her overpowered abilities. She is able to control the flow of her game with her ability. Furthermore, her ultimate ability, Annihilation, guarantees a round win in a 1v1 or 2v1 situation. Now developers have revealed her abilities draw inspiration from League of Legends’ Blitzcrank. Game Designer Alexander Mistakidis said, “As a player who loves playing hook characters like Blitzcrank in any game, I took it as a personal challenge to explore ways to bring the thrill of a hook ability while also ensuring that it was tactical.”

Mistakidis further explained how challenging it was to adapt this ‘hook-based’ gameplay idea to the fast-paced world of Valorant. However, after a bit of trial and error, the team was successful in creating Deadlock’s ultimate ability Annihilation. This ability grabs the nearest enemy in a cocoon it comes in contact with and draws them to their death. The only way to escape this ability is through the help of teammates who can break the cocoon from the outside.

This ability is a copy of Blitzcrank’s hook. However, unlike the original hook, Deadlock’s hook is not instant in nature and slowly pulls the enemies. This ability has unfortunately caused unrest among the Valorant pros and fans. They are asking Riot Games to nerf the ability as it will give an unfair advantage in a 1v1 situation.
